Move to Tumblr
So I've realised that Tumblr is just a whole heap easier to 'follow'. So I've moved to http://www.renalittleson.tumblr.com

etcc Sydney Semi Permanent Side Show
| Time | Friday, May 13 · 6:00pm - 9:00pm |
|---|---|
| Location | aMBUSH GALLERY 4a James Street Waterloo, Australia |
| Created By | |
| More Info | WHO: The show features Bec Winnel, Beastman, Numskull, Phibs, Ben Frost, Mini Graff, Benjamin Reeve, Rena Littleson, Maricor Maricar, Mark Alsweiler, Magnus McTavish, Penelope Cain, Kirsten Farrell, Jane Gillings, Aaron Seymour, Claire Nakazawa and more to be announced. WHAT: The etcc exhibition features a body of new works exploring the realities of copyright in the visual arts. The creative community is changing; a culture is emerging allowing artists to appropriate, integrate and remix each others’ work. But coupled with these notions of inspiration and freedom to create are issues of piracy, legal licensing and artistic ownership. Etcc takes the debate and slams it right on the gallery wall, with each artist creating a work that is both recycled and recyclable. Each work recycles licensed Creative Commons images, and is in turn licensed for others to remix – legally. What results is an interactive process that highlights how most art is derivative in nature, while questioning the ramifications of this on the artistic community. |

New ink art
I've started a new series of ink drawings - a combination of my usual photorealistic style and comic book ink style.

10 Day Bender

My second solo show "10 Day Bender" was on in June at Brunswick Street Gallery in Fitzroy, Melbourne. A series of 10 drawings was completed with an installation piece of the toys and lollies that were used as props in the drawings, and some falling tetris pieces hanging from the ceiling. I even managed to find my old school (still working) game boy and tetris game.

I thought a musical was being made
I was a part of a production called "I thought a musical was being made" by the Parachutes for Ladies as a part of the Next Wave Festival 2010. The performance was based on the murder of Kitty Genovese who was stabbed to death and witnessed by 38 people who did nothing. The performance happened on the intersection of Exhibition and Lonsdale Streets in the Melbourne CBD, as the audience watched from various venues listening to a soundtrack on sets of headphones. It was a great experience and I met some wonderful people.

Toyota Exhibition: The Money Myth
My second exhibition acceptance at the Toyota gallery this year was for the exhibition "The Money Myth". The painting I had recently finished fitted perfectly into the theme of the exhibition, which was a convenient coincidence, as I didn't have anything else to enter.
The guys from my favourtie band, Little Red, were kind enough to pose for my painting.

GRINDHOUSE
Thursday 27th March, 2008
Come see Rena's second group exhibition for the year, drink the free alcohol and then head down to Trades Hall on Lygon Street - it's where all the cool kids will be hanging during this year's Comedy Festival - and see the show that was meant to be Rena's Comedy Festival debut, as second lead actor. Unfortunately her line was cut in the editing process, leaving the entire show in the hands of The (much more capable) Birdmann.
Tickets are $15/$10, so if you have 2-3 free drinks at the exhibition, you'll BREAK EVEN - hell, you might even manage to make a PROFIT!
(Bookings recommended: www.comedyattrades.com.au 03 9659 3569)

Weekend at Wombarra (Wollongong)
Taking a break from my business trip to Sydney, I spent the weekend relaxing at Trent's. Some lovely sites from near my friend's beach house in Wombarra included a cemetery with an ocean view.

Newcastle coal mine film shoot
Just a little road trip to Newcastle to shoot some footage of the coal mines for one of our clients. The trip included a flight in a chopper, James Bond style, with the front door off - all in a days work for a graphic designer.

Sydney sketching
Sitting at a Gloria Jeans in Sydney CBD, I was so submerged in my drawing that I almost completely missed the commotion happening only 2 metres in front of me. I finally look away from my drawing to find two cops going through the contents of a trashy white girl's shopping bag to find several stolen handbags.

Brunswick drawings - Jan 2007
The Coin Laundry and other cool shops on Victoria Street, Brunswick.
That big tower I ride past everyday, near Albion Street, Brunwick, next the railway line.
